A sidelined member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has made his way onto the radar of first-team head coach Hansi Flick.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Mamadou Mbacke as the player in question.
Stopper Mbacke, for his part, has been sidelined since April of this year, owing to a serious ankle injury suffered whilst lining out for Barca Atlètic.
Prior to as much, though, the Senegalese was making a name for himself as one of Rafa Márquez’s star performers, having formed an impressive central-defensive partnership with the since-departed Mikayil Faye.
And Mbacke, it is understood, is now on the verge of an imminent return to the pitch.
As per Sport:
‘If all goes well, he will rejoin the group on Thursday and could be included in the list of players called up for Barca Atlètic’s trip to Ponferrada on Friday.’
And, should this prove to be the case, keeping a close eye on the situation, as alluded to above, will be none other than Hansi Flick.
Barcelona’s new headmaster is understood to have been watching Mbacke for some time prior to his injury, and was evidently left impressed by what he witnessed.
‘The African centre-back is on the German coach’s radar’ with a view to potential senior call-up, it is concluded.
