Barcelona youngster explains his decision to depart | OneFootball

Departing Barcelona talent Aleix Garrido has on Friday provided an insight into his decision to bring a close to his chapter in Blaugrana colours.

The name of midfielder Garrido has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last 24 hours.

This comes after widespread reports that the 21-year-old was closing on a Barcelona exit were followed by official confirmation of as much.

After spending his entire career to date developing on Barca’s books, Garrido has departed on a free transfer, for La Liga 2 outfit Eibar.

Garrido’s move comes after Barca Atlètic – for whom he acted as captain last season – were subjected to a shock relegation.

Speaking after being unveiled as an Eibar player on Friday, the subject of the reasoning behind his decision to seek out pastures new was therefore put to the Spanish youth international himself.

And in quotes relaid by Diario Sport, Garrido went on to explain:

“For me it is a big change because I have been at Barça for many years. It’s closing a stage and I want to change scenery and live football much more professionally and wear this shirt.

“The Second Division is something I haven’t played yet and it motivates me a lot to train as a footballer. Eibar is a perfect place. I feel happy, I am happy to join this family. It will be a very nice year and I’m motivated, I’m motivated to get out of my comfort zone.”
