According to Foot Mercato, Rennes have submitted a first oral offer to AZ Alkmaar for Vangelis Pavlidis (25). Les Rouges et Noirs’ first offer for the Greek international forward was worth €10m. The Eredivise club have rejected the Ligue 1 club’s offer in the hope of securing a bigger fee for Pavlidis.
AZ want to receive a fee in the region of €20m for the former Bochum striker, Foot Mercato report. It remains to be seen whether Rennes will return with a second offer which is closer to or matches the Alkmaar club’s asking price. The 25-year-old is hot property in European football after an impressive start to the season which has seen him score 17 goals in the Dutch top flight.
If Rennes are keen to secure the Greek attacker’s services services they may have to be quick, as they face competition from AC Milan who are also interested, according to Foot Mercato.
Palvidis could be targeted as a potential replacement for Arnaud Kalimuendo. The former PSG forward has been targeted by Eintracht Frankfurt in the January transfer window. The Bundesliga club have already made an offer for Kaliumendo, according to Fabrizio Romano. However, Julien Stéphan has said that the former Lens loanee will be staying put at Roazhon Park.
