After proving himself as one of NK Varaždin’s best players in the first part of the 2024-25 season, 22-year-old Leon Belcar has found admirers across Belgium, the Netherlands and Scotland.
The central midfielder has scored three goals in 17 league appearances this season as Varaždin sit in fifth place in the table and three points from the HNL’s European places.
Belcar played six games for Croatia’s U21 side last year while steadily cementing himself as a domestic regular. As Germanijak report, Belcar’s progress as a player over the past year is difficult to ignore, so the latest news about his possible transfer is not surprising for Croatian football fans in the least.
As per 24sata, Club Brugge, AZ Alkmaar and Rangers have shown interest in Belcar. The midfielder has a valid contract with Varaždin until 2026, and considering the fact that 21-year-old Karlo Lusavec recently moved to Danish club Horsens for 700,000 euros, Belcar’s potential transfer is expected to be even more lucrative.
Despite interest, it has been made clear by club president Dražen Vitez that Varaždin are yet to receive any official offers for their midfield starlet.
