Reims’ priority managerial target possesses offer from Russian club | OneFootball

Karl Geraerts is the favourite to become Stade de Reims’ next manager, according to a report from Sacha Tavolieri.

Samba Diawara’s departure from the role is yet to be confirmed, however, following Reims’ relegation to Ligue 2, via the relegation play-offs, L’Équipe understands that he will not continue in the role. Les Stadistes, it seems, are already in the market for Diawara’s replacement and Geraerts is the outstanding candidate.

The Belgian was most recently the manager of Schalke 04, however, he has been out of work since September. There is no guarantee that Geraerts will take the job with Reims, however. Tavolieri understands that other clubs are interested and one, CSKA Moscow, have even made a concrete and lucrative proposal to acquire his services.

There could yet also be interest from Standard Liège. Their interest in Geraerts is more long-standing and there are attempts to revive a deal, although any deal would prove financially difficult for the Belgian club.
