Reece James could be back in time to help Chelsea compete for Club World Cup
the Chelsea News
After playing a few games without Ben Chilwell in the team, lots of Chelsea fans were pretty dispirited.
After playing a few games without Chilwell AND Reece James in the team, lots of them were ready to throw the towel in altogether.
Their mood should be improving however, as James’ return is now on the horizon. The well-connected Simon Johnson of The Athletic writes that the right back could return in just a couple of weeks, when Chelsea head to Abu Dhabi to play in the Club World Cup.
While the rest of his teammates are enjoying a fortnight off, James is training on his own at Cobham to build up his fitness. The timing couldn’t be better for his recovery – a long break, then potentially a few minutes in the FA Cup against Plymouth, then a chance to ease himself back to match sharpness in the CWC.
After that, things get serious in the Champions League again, and we will need James at full power.
