One of the topics of interest over the past few weeks has been the future of Luka Modric. Twelve years have passed since the midfielder joined Real Madrid, and the Croatian is currently nearing the end of his contract.

Despite observing a notable decline in his game time, Modric’s desire to stay put in the Spanish capital is no secret.

Any scenario is possible

Now, according to MARCA Modric’s preference is clear: he wants to continue wearing the royal white jersey next season.

His relationship with the club is strong, and his quality on the pitch as well as his experience remains a crucial asset for the Merengues.

However, there have been no negotiations or conversations between the two parties over a renewal as of yet.

Unlike last year, when his contract renewal was sealed by April, the lack of concrete discussion between him and the club this year has given rise to some uncertainty.

It is anticipated that Modric and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will soon speak to address the matter.

With Modric’s legendary standing within the club, his contract situation will likely be handled eventually.

Real Madrid will not present too many complications

While Los Blancos are known to part ways with players when their time is seemingly up, Modric’s status within the club will certainly be taken into account.

As per prior reports, the 38-year-old veteran’s wish to stay at the Bernabeu will not be thwarted by the club.

The newly-crowned La Liga champions will support the Croatian’s decision, whether it is to sign a new deal or leave.

But as things stand, it appears that a renewal is likely, although no conversations have taken place yet.
