The powers that be at Real Madrid are preparing an official appeal against the latest yellow card handed down to midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni.

Real were dealt a hefty blow on Thursday evening, upon French international Tchouaméni being booked during the club’s La Liga victory over Getafe.

In the closing stages of the action at the Estadio Coliseum, the 24-year-old was adjudged to have been guilty of a foul deep in his own half.

Though the incident initially appeared to have gone unpunished, Carlo Ancelotti later confirmed in his post-match press conference that Tchouaméni had indeed been shown a yellow card by referee Ricardo De Burgos.

This marked his 5th of the La Liga campaign, giving rise to an ensuing suspension.

And as much could not have come at a worse time for Real, with their next outing set to come against arch rivals Atlético Madrid on Sunday.

If the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, however, Ancelotti and his staff could yet be able to call upon Tchouaméni for the derby.

This comes amid confirmation that Los Blancos intend to appeal their midfield enforcer’s latest booking.

As per a report from Relevo, the powers that be at the Santiago Bernabéu intend to make imminent contact with La Liga, in an effort to have Tchouaméni’s yellow rescinded.

It is understood that the card was shown for a challenge which was made before the linesman’s flag was subsequently raised for offside against Getafe.

Should it be decided that this proves sufficient grounds for the decision to be overturned, the former Monaco standout could in turn yet take to the pitch against Atlético on Sunday night.
