As per the latest information from AS, Real Madrid’s breakout talent Gonzalo Garcia could soon find himself on the path to representing Spain at the FIFA World Cup next year.

It is to be noted that Spanish national team coach Luis de la Fuente is set to announce his squad for the upcoming qualifiers against Bulgaria and Turkey today, with Georgia also part of the group.

As such, Spain will largely stick with the squad that reached the Nations League final, which already guarantees them a playoff spot in case things go wrong during qualification.

Interestingly, De la Fuente is expected to use this campaign to introduce fresh names into the mix, especially in attack. That’s where Gonzalo Garcia’s opportunity lies.

Meanwhile, the young forward will first appear for Spain’s U-21 side, but the door to the senior squad is wide open.

Opportunity for the Real Madrid forward

De la Fuente admires his qualities as a natural goalscorer and is keen to monitor his growth under Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid.

It has to be an incentive for him to know that he is on our radar,” said the Spanish coach about Gonzalo in a recent interview.

If he gets minutes in the coming weeks and performs well with the U-21s, he could be fast-tracked into the senior team, and this would put him in contention for a place at the World Cup.

Meanwhile, the outlet also mentions that alongside Gonzalo, another Real Madrid youngster making waves is defender Dean Huijsen.

His rise with the national team has been described as a success, with De la Fuente impressed by his maturity and consistency.

The coach believes Huijsen can develop even further and sees him as a player capable of becoming a key figure for Spain over the next decade.
