In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Real Madrid have set their sights on Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the English talent this summer.

Mainoo’s Impressive Run Of Form In Premier League Football

Mainoo has managed to impress at times with his performances at the heart of Erik ten Hag’s midfield during this campaign. The 18-year-old has scored three goals and grabbed a couple of assists in 26 appearances for the Mancunian giants this season in all competitions.

The English midfield ace has anchored the midfield with conviction based on his average of 2.0 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.5 clearances and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession after making 84.4% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at Old Trafford will run out in the summer of 2027. Therefore, Real Madrid would have to launch a big move if they are serious about recruiting the English youngster in the upcoming transfer window.

Is Mainoo A Decent Fit For Real Madrid?

Mainoo is a tough-tackling midfielder who can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when the opposition are on the front foot and can even make a few clever runs with the ball from midfield.

The Stockport-born talent is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also operate as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if asked to do so by his manager. At 18, Mainoo has got the potential to become a future star at the highest level as long as he continues to improve with each season.

The English midfielder would add more quality and depth to Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s match-day squad. He is more than capable of challenging for a regular starting spot at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium next season.

Los Blancos‘ needs in the long run. However, the English teenager might need some time to adapt to life in Spanish football.
