Real Madrid have completed the long-awaited capture of their Karim Benzema replacement by signing Joselu from Espanyol.
The striker arrives on a season-long loan deal, with a clause in his contract with the Barcelona-based side allowing him to depart temporarily in the event they were relegated.
The deal also contains an option for the move to be made permanent next summer.
Joselu, who was part of the Spain squad which won the Nations League on Sunday, arrives as a direct replacement to Benzema following his move to Saudi Arabia.
And it appears that the 33-year-old will be Los Blancos’ only attacking arrival of the summer, joining Brahim Díaz and Jude Bellingham in making the move to the Spanish capital.
When quizzed by supporters on Sunday if more signings would follow, Florentino Pérez responded ‘no’.
It is Joselu’s second spell with Real, scoring twice in two appearances across two seasons during his previous tenure at the club.
