Real Madrid have bid goodbye to another young talent as teenage defensive prospect Jorge Oreiro has signed for La Liga rivals Real Betis, reports Fabrizio Romano.
Oreiro, 18, has been at the Real Madrid academy for only two years now, having arrived from the Deportivo La Coruna youth setup in 2022.
The 2006-born central defender was part of the Juvenil B setup at the club in the season gone by. A centre-back primarily, the teenager is capable of playing as a full-back or in midfield as well.
As such, Oreiro had been attracting plenty of interest from England, as per the update from Romano, this summer.
However, the teenage defender has opted to reject the approaches from the English shores and continue his progression in Spain by signing for the Real Betis academy.
As is the case with almost every youth player leaving the club, Real Madrid have inserted a sell-on clause for the 18-year-old.
But instead of a buyback clause, the Merengues have secured a right-to-match option for Oreiro, which would give them priority to re-sign the defender by matching any offers that come for him in the future.
Oreiro becomes the latest young player to leave Real Madrid this summer following the likes of Marvin Park, Peter Federico, Juanmi Latasa, Rafa Marin, and more recently Rafa Obrador and Mario Martin, both on loan.
Soon, Nico Paz and Marvel are also expected to move on, with the former set to join Como in Italy and the latter on his way to Cordoba in the Spanish second division.
