Eden Hazard took to the field after retiring from football last year as he played in a charity game at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis between ex-RC Lens and Ligue 1 legends. Despite the good cause, old rivalries came to the surface for the Lensois.
Of course, Hazard had made his debut and announced his talent on the world stage at Lens’ bitter rivals Lille OSC. At 16, Hazard made his debut for Lille, breaking into the first team from the club’s academy. A few years later, Hazard would bring Lille glory, as he helped the club to a league title in the 2010/11 season.
Hazard may have left Lille in 2012 to join Chelsea FC before later retiring at Real Madrid, but his previous commitments to Lens’ rivals could hardly be forgotten. Hazard’s every touch during the match was met with whistles and boos from the Lens faithful.
