Reading will face off against Blackpool on Wednesday in the EFL Championship. The away side lost in the weekend while the home side narrowly edged out a 1-0 victory. Can Reading extend their winning run to three back-to-back games?

Reading are placed seventh in the Championship table with six wins, one draw and five losses from twelve fixtures. After struggling at the start of the season, Reading have revived their form as of late. They have won both of their league fixtures in October and will look to extend their form when they welcome Blackpool in midweek. John Swift scored in the 77th minute to secure three points for his side in their previous game against Barnsley. Reading missed the play-off spot in the previous season by seven points. They will be inspired to ensure that they can continue their form as the season progresses. John Swift’s fine goal contribution has been one of the main reason’s that Reading have kept their momentum going. He has scored eight goals and added a further five assists in the Championship this season. The home side have been plagued by multiple injuries this season and have several players that will remain unavailable for the clash against Blackpool. Junior Hoilett is also among the players who are set to miss out while Rinomhota might be in contention for the starting eleven.

The xT timeline indicates that Reading were less threatening than their opponents in both halves. John Swift’s goal in the second half was sufficient to hand his side the advantage at the final whistle. The xG timeline shows a similar trend with Barnsley coming out on top in both halves and having no end product to show for.

In their previous game, Blackpool fell 2-1 to Nottingham Forest away. Brennan Johnson scored in the 22nd minute before Yates levelled the score in the second half. Lewis Grabban’s goal in the 61st minute gave Forest the lead to see out the match till the final whistle. Similar to their Reading, Blackpool have several players who will remain unavailable through injuries. Shayne Lavery is also set to miss out on the clash. Jerry Yates could provide Blackpool with the threat required to secure victory against Reading.
