FC Barcelona are looking to reinforce their attacking lineup in the current transfer window, and have put any other operations lower down in their list of preferences to get two main attacking targets, i.e., Nico Williams and Dani Olmo.

However, despite their absolute focus on these two players, getting them will not be easy for the Catalans. Latest updates on the transfer of the Athletic Club winger paint a rather pessimistic picture about Barcelona’s ability to land him.

On the other hand, the Blaugranes have been reported to be nearer to getting Dani Olmo. However, it is also clear that Barcelona will have to make a significant economic sacrifice to get him.

This is clearly the case according to a report from SPORT, which claims that RB Leipzig are open to allowing the mercurial forward to leave, but would provide no concessions in the form of discounts or installments to the Catalan side. The Germans want full payment of Olmo’s market value, and Barcelona are currently far from meeting their demands.

The last few weeks have seen little progress in the negotiations between Barcelona and Leipzig for the forward. This has been in part because Leipzig have focused entirely on renewing Xavi Simons’s loan for another season.

The Germans have successfully met this objective, but Barcelona are still unable to present a viable economic offer to Leipzig or guarantee his registration with La Liga. The Blaugranes are expected to make further moves for Olmo only after Laporta returns from the USA tour.

Barcelona have already seen their first offer of €60 million including bonuses and instalments for the Spanish forward rejected. Thus, it is clear that while Olmo is clearly bent on a move to Barcelona, RB Leipzig are not going to allow him to leave for below his market value.
