With the operation to sign Nico Williams collapsing, FC Barcelona are back on the hunt for a new left-winger this summer.
Liverpool ace Luis Diaz and Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford are seen as two viable alternatives by the Catalans.
A move for Diaz, though, could be complicated given that Liverpool do not wish to sell him. Even in the case of a potential move, the Colombian would cost a big fee.
As such, Rashford is seen as a more gettable target for the La Liga champions, especially given that the player does not have a future at Manchester United and wants to join the Blaugrana.
Indeed, according to Fabrizio Romano, it is completely over between Manchester United and Marcus Rashford, and he will be leaving Old Trafford soon.
The English forward spent the second half of the season on loan at Aston Villa. Earlier today, reports suggested that he would be returning to Carrington for pre-season and would be fully involved despite facing an uncertain future.
But that is not the case, as the forward’s No. 10 shirt has now been given to new signing Matheus Cunha. Manchester United executives had already informed the player’s representatives about this.
Romano also confirms that Rashford is among a number of players who have told the Red Devils that they wish to leave and have been given time until later in July to find solutions for their future.
The Italian journalist reiterates that Rashford sees Barcelona as his dream move and is giving the Catalans top priority.
The same is corroborated by Santi Ovalle on Carrusel, who claims that the Manchester United academy ace is waiting for a call from the La Liga champions.
A loan deal with a €40 million purchase option could be explored by the parties involved. Rashford, however, has other important proposals and might not be willing to wait for too long for Barcelona to make a move.
