Manchester United have made an improved bid for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo.
According to the Athletic's David Ornstein, Rúben Amorim's side increased their offer for the Cameroon international to a package worth £70m overall.
The Red Devils saw successive attempts to price Mbeumo from west London rebuffed with the reported figures of £55m and £62.5m failing to find favour.
But United are hopeful that their raised figure will edge the 26-year-old closer to a dream move to his boyhood heroes ahead of the new campaign's start.
Mbeumo sits second in the Bees' all-time Premier League scorers list after hitting double figures for the first time with the club in the top flight last season.
