Raphinha: A man in fine form for Barcelona

It’s no secret that Barcelona’s season has seen somewhat of a resurgence since January, when it looked as though they were set to spiral down the La Liga standings.

Ever since going out of the cup at the Quarter-final stage against Athletic Club, and losing 5-3 at home to Villarreal, it’s fair to say Xavi’s men have done a good job at getting back on the right track and securing Champions League qualification.

One man who has been integral to this reversal of fortunes is Raphinha, whose attacking contributions have seen Barcelona lose only once in domestic competition since that evening in January against Real Madrid.

As Mundo Deportivo have pointed out, over the past two months, Raphinha’s fine form has seen him net 10 goal contributions in his last 11 games in all competitions for Barcelona.

In this period, his side have netted 22 goals, meaning Raphinha’s goals and assists account for almost half of all goals scored by Barcelona during this time.

Barcelona make the short 100km journey up to Girona on Saturday, in a game which could all but confirm the side’s place in the Super Cup next season.

The Blaugrana will be hopeful that they can count on Raphinha’s contributions to continue over the next few weeks so that the club can make a strong finish to the season.
