Adam Devine becomes the latest uninteresting Rangers activity in January with the youngster, well out of favour at Ibrox, set to switch to Kilmarnock on loan till the summer, with Motherwell potentially interested too.

Devine, like any other RB, hasn’t come close to usurping James Tavernier in that slot, and hasn’t managed to get a foot in at LB either.

Despite numerous fans calling for his use, Devine didn’t come close to impressing in the senior shirt in the way the exceptional Nathan Patterson did at the same age, showing just what level Rangers players from the academy need to get to to have a sniff of the first team.

Patterson really was a quality graduate, even if he too could not fully dislodge the captain.

Devine was miles short of this level, unfortunately, and wasn’t even considered good enough to be his deputy, with former manager Michael Beale signing Dujon Sterling instead.

He of course has become a serious part of the first team, in defensive midfield, with Philippe Clement rating the ex-Chelsea kid hugely, but Devine is miles away from that level.

As such, he will go out on loan today until June, with Rugby Park and Fir Park the two likeliest destinations, with, as we say, Derek McInnes’ men holding the aces here and certainly in first place for the boy’s signature.

At 20, Devine hasn’t kicked on, hasn’t shown the quality needed to be part of Rangers’ first team, and has really only managed to be a benchwarmer and squad utility.

This is a good move for him, if it comes off, and much more like his level.

We wish him the best.
