Osimhen to Chelsea could still be on

According to our writer Simon Phillips on his Substack site today, Chelsea are still pushing to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli, and the situation of Raheem Sterling could help that move.

Phillips writes:

“The other thing that could move Osimhen to Chelsea is getting Raheem Sterling’s wages off the books, and as you would have seen from yesterday’s developments, Chelsea are now actively trying to push him out. If you get Sterling’s wages off the books, you have more leeway to offer Osimhen closer to what he wants, whether that’s with a lower base wage or incentives.

“Sterling might still be tough to move, but it will now be down to him and his agents to decide what they want to do. With Joao Felix coming in now as well, Sterling has been told his playing time will be limited and he will even be lucky to make match day squads. So Sterling wants to play still and even has eyes on an England recall, this will surely push his agents to find a move for him and he might have to even accept lower wages, a lot like Felix did recently when he joined Atletico.”
