Arteta agrees new three-year contract with Arsenal | OneFootball

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has agreed a new three-year deal to extend his contract until 2027, according to The Athletic.

The Spaniard has led the Gunners as they challenged Manchester City for the Premier League title last two seasons.

Arteta’s side have started the new campaign well with two wins and a draw.

The 42-year-old replaced Unai Emery in 2019 and led the Gunners to the FA Cup in his first season at the club.

Two underwhelming campaigns followed, but the Gunners trusted the process and they have emerged as genuine contenders in the English top flight.

The former Everton and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder recorded his 100th Premier League win as a manager against Tottenham Hotspur in April.

He reached the milestone ten games quicker than former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger. Pep Guardiola, his friend and mentor, holds the record.

Arteta’s new deal will come as a boost as they prepare to face arch-rivals Spurs this weekend.

The Gunners are dealing with numerous issues ahead of the highly-anticipated clash, with Martin Odegaard and Riccardo Calafiori suffering setbacks over the international break.

Mikel Merino remains sidelined with a shoulder problem, while Declan Rice is unavailable after receiving a red card against the Seagulls.
