According to VoetbalPrimeur and the Eindhovens Dagblad, PSV are tracking BK Häcken’s Abdoulaye Faye. The 20-year-old left-footed central defender from Senegal reportedly shares a similar profile to Nobel Mendy.
Following Olivier Boscagli’s departure on a free, it is no secret that PSV are looking for a new left-footer in the centre of their defence. Mendy, who is due to move over from Real Betis, is said to be ‘in the starting blocks’ to come to Eindhoven.
However, a transfer is not yet a foregone conclusion because there are question marks surrounding the Senegalese’s work permit. Now the ED reports that PSV are also looking at Faye.
VoetbalPrimeur writes: “How Eindhoven’s interest in Faye relates to the situation surrounding Mendy is unclear. The fact is that the two have a similar profile: both players are 20 years old, come from Senegal, are left-footed and play in the heart of the defence.
“While Mendy has played a handful of matches in the first team of Betis so far, Faye is a regular at Häcken. However, the youngster had to miss the last few matches due to an injury.”
