There was chaos in Porto as Shakhtar Donetsk pulled level with the hosts before the half-hour mark in the final match of Champions League Group H.

The Porto players were fuming when the goal was awarded – and they may just have a point.

Shakhtar were on the attack down the right wing, but the play appeared to be coming to a halt when the linesman raised his flag for offside, prompting a handful of Porto players to stop playing.

Inexplicably, the referee chose not to stop the play, allowing the Shakhtar players to continue and eventually score the levelling goal.

While it was given as offside when the ball hit the back of the net, the goal was eventually awarded after a VAR check revealed that the play was very much onside.

Luckily for the hosts, they reclaimed the lead before the break to relieve some of the anger inside the stadium.

The Porto players immediately swarmed the referee, pleading their case that the play should have been blown dead when the flag was raised.
