Juan Mata is expected to leave Manchester United when his contract expires this summer, so the Spaniard is likely to have made his final appearance as a player for the club in today’s 1-0 defeat away to Crystal Palace.

It was thought that he would leave at the end of last season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, only for him to stick around for a bit part role in the squad.

However, in a recent interview with the Athletic, Mata has said he will have a conversation with new manager Erik ten Hag and could yet decide to remain at the club.

Ten Hag was in the stands at the game, but it looked like Mata shared a moment of goodbye with the fans after the final whistle, so unless they have a chat this week it looks like he is certain to move on.

United We Stand editor Andy Mitten tweeted a photo of Mata waving goodbye as he was the last United player to leave the pitch.

All the best to Mata!
