Blackburn Rovers will be looking to continue their 100% start to the Championship season on Wednesday night, when they make the trip to Reading.

After wins over QPR, Swansea and West Brom to start the campaign, victory over the Royals would ensure that Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side retain their place at the top of the early Championship standings.

However, the Lancashire club will have to do that, while navigating their way around a number of injury concerns that have emerged over the past week or so.

With those fitness issues in mind, we’ve taken a look at the starting lineup that Tomasson could name to try and get those three points against the Royals, right here.

In goal, first-choice Thomas Kaminski should continue between the posts, as he has done in every league game so far this season.

Rovers have also been given a boost in defence in the lead-up to this game, with Callum Brittian and Ash Phillips both available, despite being forced off early in the win over West Brom.

That means they should start at right-back and centre back respectively, joining Daniel Ayala and Harry Pickering in the back four, with Scott Wharton and Hayden Carter both still unavailable.

Having filled in for Brittain at right-back in the second half on Sunday, John Buckley should now be able to return to his more natural central midfield position, alongside captain Lewis Travis.

One change could come further forward, where Ryan Hedges endured a more difficult afternoon against West Brom, than he has done in previous games this season.

That may mean Tyrhys Dolan should be considered for his first league start of the season, having made a useful impact from the bench against West Brom at the weekend.

Summer signing Sammie Szmodics should continue in the number ten role following his positive start to life at Blackburn in the past couple of games.

Meanwhile, with Ben Brereton-Diaz continuing to show no signs that speculation around his future could affect his performances, not least with a stunning goal and assist in victory over the Baggies, the Chile international should be well set to retain his place in the starting lineup here.

Leading the line is therefore likely to be Sam Gallagher, who also ought to be brimming with confidence after getting his first goal of the season with an excellent finish that turned out to be the matchwinner for Blackburn on Sunday.
