With just two games to go of the Championship season, Blackburn Rovers are still fighting to avoid relegation to League One.

The Ewood Park club missed an opportunity to guarantee their safety on Sunday afternoon, when they lost 3-1 at home to relegation rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

As a result, they currently sit 19th in the Championship table, three points clear of the bottom three.

Consequently, the pressure already looks to be very much on head coach John Eustace, in what is still a relatively early point in his reign at Ewood Park.

John Eustace still to make his mark for Blackburn

Eustace was appointed as Rovers' new head coach in early February, following the departure of Jon Dahl Tomasson.

It was a move that saw Eustace return to the Championship after being sacked by Birmingham City in October last year, despite the Blues occupying a play-off place at the time.

At the time of his appointment, Blackburn were 18th in the standings, five points clear of the relegation zone. They had though, taken only five points from their last 11 league games under Tomasson.

Things initially started well for Eustace. Rovers beat Stoke 3-1 at home in the first game following his appointment, with the 44-year-old involving himself on the touchline in the second half of the match, despite originally taking on a watching brief for that game.

Since then however, the club have somewhat struggled to build on that, taking only two wins from the 14 Championship matches they have since played under Eustace.

That has of course, prevented them from pulling clear of the bottom three as of yet. But just what impact has Eustace had overall on the league, since taking charge at Ewood Park?

Here, we've taken a look at the Championship table since he took charge of Blackburn, in order to help find out.

Since Eustace was appointed at Ewood Park on the 9th February this year, Rovers have played a total of 15 league games.

That gives them 16 points from the 15 league matches they have played under Eustace, and if the league had been reset following his appointment on February 9th, they would currently be 18th.

In this scenario, Rovers would be four points clear of the relegation zone, although the side who sit 22nd in this situation, Sunderland, would have a game in hand.

What may give Blackburn some hope as they attempt to stay clear of the bottom three between now and the end of the season, is that several of the teams they are competing with to avoid relegation, are also at the lower end of this table.

That includes the likes of Plymouth Argyle, Birmingham City, Stoke City and Huddersfield Town.

Next up for Blackburn is the visit of Coventry City to Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon. They then finish their campaign a week later with a trip to The King Power Stadium to face a Leicester City side who now look destined for an immediate promotion back to the Premier League.
