Promoted Ligue 1 side FC Metz has announced the signing of Jonathan Fischer (23) from Norwegian first-tier side Fredrikstad. According to Le Républicain Lorrain, Metz and Fredrikstad reached an agreement over a €3m transfer fee. Fischer has signed a four-year deal with Les Grenats. Metz were in the market for a goalkeeper after parting ways with Alexandre Oukidja and Arnaud Bodart, the latter of whom has joined Lille OSC.
The former Denmark U19 international is expected to be Stéphan Le Mignan’s first-choice goalkeeper as Metz will try to retain their Ligue 1 status on the back of their play-off promotion win against Reims. Fischer will wear the No. 1 jersey with Les Grenats. “I am very happy and eager to make my debut with FC Metz”, said Fischer. “I watched some videos and I was impressed by the enthusiasm of their fans.“
