Official | Ibrahim Salah joins FC Basel from Rennes

Stade Rennais have confirmed the departure of Belgian-Moroccan winger Ibrahim Salah (24), who has joined Swiss champions FC Basel on a permanent deal.

Salah still had two years left on his contract in Brittany, which was due to expire in June 2027, but Rennes have agreed to sell the forward for a reported fee of around €2m. The former Gent player will wear the number 21 shirt in Switzerland.

Signed in January 2023, Salah was seen as a promising addition to Rennes’ attacking options but struggled to establish himself in Ligue 1, featuring intermittently under successive managers. His departure follows Rennes’ busy summer rebuild, which has seen several squad changes as Habib Beye looks to refine his attacking options.GFFN | George Boxall
