Chelsea have today officially confirmed it on their website, and the trial run of games where safe standing will be allowed will start at the Liverpool game at Stamford Bridge on the 2nd of January.

Then the game will start a trial period also involving the home stadiums of Cardiff City, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Supporters in those stands will be allocated a seat as usual, but they will now have the option of being allowed to stand during the game.

Chelsea were the first to be agreed safe standing back in November, and now the trial has been confirmed to start in January.

It’s a great move for football fans.
