Anthony Lopes (34) has left his formative club Olympique Lyonnais to join Ligue 1 rivals FC Nantes, both clubs have announced this Monday. The Portugal international was no longer Les Gones‘ undisputed last stand amid the arrival of Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Perri. Lopes spent the first half of the 2024-2025 campaign on the sidelines after rejecting the advances of Liverpool and Nantes in the summer.

Lopes eventually joined Antoine Kombouaré’s Nantes side after terminating his contract with Lyon. The 34-year-old Lopes wore the Lyon jersey 489 times, which makes him the fifth-most capped player for Les Gones. He will wear the No. 16 with Nantes. Lopes put pen to paper over a six-month contract with an option for additional years based on his performance, until 2027 at least.
