Official: Ali Maaloul Returns to CS Sfaxien After 13-Year Absence
CS Sfaxien've officially announced the return of club legend Ali Maaloul, nearly 13 year after his departure to Al Ahly SC in Egypt.
The 35 year old left back rejoined the Tunisian side on free transfer following the end of his contract with Al Ahly where he played from 2016 to 2025 winning numerous titles & establishing himself as one of Africa’s best defenders.
The club revealed the news through video showing Maaloul wearing the captain’s armband and his iconic No10 jersey.
Maaloul made his first appearance back with Sfaxien in friendly against Moustakbal Marsa scoring the only goal of the match from the penalty spot.
Since Maaloul’s departure in 2016, CS Sfaxien've failed to lift the Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 title with their last triumph dating back to the 2012 /13 season, the same year they won Confederation cup.
Between 2009 & 2016, Maaloul won the Tunisian cup, league title and Confederation cup with Sfaxien becoming fan favourite and club icon.
