Another frustrating night for Arsenal as they held a 1-1 draw against Brighton in the Premier League. The latest points drop allows the table-toppers Liverpool to extend their gap point and easily march towards the league title.

The Gunners have their next game lined up against Newcastle United in the EFL Cup semi-final round. Mikel Arteta’s men cannot commit the mistake of underestimating the opponents, who come into the match after beating Tottenham Hotspur.

Defence

No doubt David Raya will be operating between the sticks once again. Jurrien Timber is back after serving a ban and should retake his right-back position.

The centre-back duo of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba remain intact while Myles Lewis-Skelly might be introduced over Riccardo Calafiori for the left-back role.

Midfield

Timber’s return will allow Thomas Partey to be deployed as the engine of the side in the midfield. While Declan Rice continues in the middle of the park, Martin Odegaard is likely to return to the XI to accompany him.

Attack

The Gunners will unfortunately be without the services of Ethan Nwaneri. The 17-year-old scripted history by scoring against Brighton but had to be subbed off. Later it was revealed by manager Mikel Arteta that the youngster has suffered a muscular injury.

To fill his role on the right flank, Gabriel Martinelli is the front-runner. Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard are the other two names consisting of the attacking line.

Bukayo Saka (hamstring), Raheem Sterling (knee), Ben White (knee) and Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee) are still sidelined due to the mentioned injuries while Kai Havertz missed the previous two games due to illness and is unavailable for this too.
