Norwich City have been advised to avoid signing the Sheffield Wednesday man

Josh Windass has yet to decide where he will play his football next season.
The Sheffield Wednesday forward is thought to be one of the players who has tendered his notice to exit the club after not receiving payment in two of the last three months.
Alex Miller of the Sheffield Star recently reported that Championship trio Derby County, Norwich City and Coventry City are all believed to be considering a move for the 31-year-old.
The Canaries sourced most of their goals through Borja Sainz and Josh Sargent last season and it is a realistic prospect that they will begin the 2025/26 campaign without either.
However, Norwich City’s Football League World fan pundit, Zeke Downes, doesn’t think the club should be eyeing up a move for Windass this summer.
“Although he seems to have been doing a good job at Sheffield Wednesday, I don't think it's worth us going in for him,” stated Zeke.
“Obviously, Sheffield Wednesday as a club have got a lot of issues and they've probably got to let some players go.
“But I don't really think he's the one that we need to be looking at.
“He's got a decent record, but I’m not too impressed really. I think if this happened, I'd imagine there wouldn't be too much excitement from the fans.
“It also depends on how much it would be. Because if it's a free, maybe it would be worth it.
“But if it's not going to be that type of deal, I wouldn’t be too pleased with signing Windass.”
If Norwich do end up losing both Sainz and Sargent, there will be serious concerns over whether the Norfolk outfit are able to replace those goals next term.
Behind those two, the Canaries’ top scorer in the Championship was Ante Crnac, netting seven times across the season.
This output isn’t enough to consider him a serious candidate to lead the line for Manning’s side.
They have also added Danish striker Mathias Kvistgaarden to their ranks, but the 23-year-old is still an unknown quantity in the English game and therefore can’t be relied upon at this moment.
If Windass is set to walk away from his contract at Hillsborough, Norwich would be able to sign the 31-year-old on a free transfer.
Last season saw the Wednesday man register 13 goals and five assists in the Championship, which means that Manning would be adding an operator to his attack who is proven at this level.
Across 46 games, this experience and quality could be invaluable, especially as the Canaries’ crop is lacking similar profiles at this moment in time.
Although not an overly exciting move, signing Windass could be the type of addition that can make the difference come May.
