Northern Ireland international forward Simone Magill will leave Everton this summer upon the expiry of her contract at Walton Hall Park.

Everton informed FAWSL Full-Time of the news via an official club press release this afternoon.

The 27-year-old has spent almost a decade with The Blue Girls but she has determined that now is the right time to move on for a fresh challenge.

Magill has made well over 100 appearances for Everton during her time at the club. She has twice been a Vitality Women’s FA Cup runner-up with the Merseyside club while she helped Everton to the FA Women’s Super League 2 Spring Series title in 2017.

Speaking following her announcement, Magill said “It’s never an easy decision, I’ve been here for nine years. To say I’m emotional is an understatement. I’ve grown to love the club, the fans, the people and what it stands for.

“To leave this club will be very sad. Everton is filled with fantastic people.

“I wish the club all the best and I have no doubt our paths will cross again sometime in the future.”

Everton will go into the summer transfer window in desperate need of bolstering their attack. Magill joins fellow forward Claire Emslie in leaving Everton this summer while French international striker Valérie Gauvin moved to the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) at the start of April.
