Everton sign England winger Katie Robinson on loan with an option to buy ahead of the 2025/26 WSL season. Robinson, who joined the Villains in 2024 and went on to make 21 appearances across all competitions, becomes the Toffees’ sixth signing of the summer transfer window.
Despite being only 22, Katie Robinson has plenty of top-flight experience for both club and country. After graduating from Bristol City’s academy, a move to WSL side Brighton followed. Whilst starting week in and week out for the Seagulls, England manager Sarina Wiegman soon took notice of her impressive displays on the flanks, awarding the then 20-year-old her Lionesses debut against Norway in November 2022.
Following her inclusion in the 2023 Arnold Clark Cup squad, Robinson earned a place in Wiegman’s 23-player roster for the 2023 World Cup, where England made it to the final but ultimately fell short against Spain.
Speaking on her move, Robinson said, “To be able to play here at Goodison is unbelievable. What an amazing, historic stadium. I can’t wait for that! The Club are really investing in the Women’s team, I think that shows a lot. I had some really good conversations with the manager, Brian. I am really excited to get going and give my all for the Club.”
The winger hopes this loan move propels her back into the thoughts of the England manager. “I am really hoping that, if I can work hard and put in some good performances, I would love to get back in the England squad one day. I’ve seen how other young players have done here and that definitely played a part in my decision to come here, too – seeing that Brian wants to give players opportunities and really develop them.”
Everton manager, Brian Sorensen, added: “Katie is a real talent who has shown her capabilities at Aston Villa and Brighton. She is a direct forward who loves to get forward and take her marker on. Her playing style is attacking and exciting, but she is not afraid to put a tackle in and is aware of her defensive responsibilities. She will bolster our attack and provide an extra threat down the wings.”
