Nicolas Jackson’s loan move from Chelsea to Bayern Munich is back on after dramatic talks on Deadline Day.
The Senegal forward is set to join the German champions on an improved loan deal that includes an obligation to buy.
Bayern will pay a loan fee worth around £16.5 million, with a permanent transfer of £56 million due in 2026.
Jackson, 24, has already agreed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga club.
He had travelled to Munich on Saturday to complete a medical, only for Chelsea to pull the plug after Liam Delap suffered a hamstring injury against Fulham.
Chelsea had been left with only Joao Pedro available in attack and were reluctant to sanction another striker’s departure.
Jackson remained in Munich after the deal collapsed, while his agents pushed for Chelsea to reconsider.
The forward’s representative, Ali Barat, said the collapse was ‘deeply frustrating’ but vowed to ensure the striker’s career plans were not derailed.
Chelsea have since recalled Marc Guiu from his loan spell at Sunderland to bolster their attacking options.
That decision cleared the way for negotiations with Bayern to restart late on Sunday night.
Talks moved quickly on Deadline Day, with Bayern eager to secure depth behind Harry Kane.
Vincent Kompany had made signing a centre-forward a priority, with Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade and Milan’s Christopher Nkunku no longer available.
Bayern see Jackson as an affordable solution in a market with few options.
The striker has scored 30 goals in 81 matches since joining Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023.
He registered 13 goals in all competitions last season despite missing two months with a hamstring injury.
His campaign ended in controversy, however, with two straight red cards in the final weeks of the season.
Discipline and finishing have been cited as weaknesses, but Bayern value his movement and pressing qualities.
They believe he can provide cover and competition for Kane across a long season.
Chelsea tied Jackson to a contract until 2033 last year but were open to a structured exit.
The inclusion of an obligation to buy ensures the deal aligns with their financial planning.
Jackson was left out of Chelsea’s Premier League squads this month, although he had continued training with the first team.
The move ends weeks of uncertainty for the striker, who had been waiting in Munich since Saturday.
