We asked Jonathan Drape-Comyn to give us his match ratings and player comments after Wolves 2 Newcastle 1.

A game that featured 35 shots in total and for once, Newcastle having more and better chances than the opposition.

Leading for most of the match, United couldn’t add to Sean Longstaff’s long range 23rd minute effort, paying the price when Sarr allowed a free header only six yards out.

Match ratings:

Karl Darlow: 5

Couldn’t do nothing about the first or third goal but really caught in no man’s land for Harry Kane’s goal. Has never filled me with confidence.

Manquillo – 5

Did great getting forward for the opening goal but defensively all at sea.

Played Kane onside for the second goal, out of position for the third. Really poor.

Lascelles – 3

A pattern starting to emerge here with Newcastle’s defensive performance.

I can’t believe he actually plays football in teams.

Looks lost without having someone like Schar or Fernandez next to him who can actually control a football.

All over the place at times but christ, just put your foot on the ball! Brings no calmness to the back line at all.

Clark – 2.5

Almost the worst of the four but not quite.

Dragged everywhere by the Spurs forwards. Saying that he was ‘all over the place’ would be a compliment.

Ritchie – 2

Yes, he tries, as he always does, but Ritchie has been poor for a while now and his performance (effort aside) was shambolic today.

Doesn’t event look fit, takes 4-5 touches to set himself, couldn’t make a pass, couldn’t make a cross and constantly out of position.

Looked completely out of his league.

That was honestly one of the worst individual performances I have ever seen from a toon player.

Hayden – 5

No obvious errors, though Spurs’ attacking players consistently got in behind the NUFC midfield.

Willock – 5

Wasteful, ineffective.

Another one who seems to be played out of position, although I can’t tell what position he was even in.

Longstaff – 6

I actually thought he did ok.

There were a few slagging him off on twitter and although he didn’t pull up any trees, I’d take him over Jonjo Shelvey every day of the week.

ASM – 7

The only player who looks like he can create anything.

When without Wilson, NUFC are close to being a one man team.

Didn’t get the rub of the green today on many an occasion but the only player who looks like they can make something happen.

Joelinton – 3

Where do you start?

Goes without saying that Joelinton will try his best but christ, he’s absolutely terrible.

I can’t remember him making a pass.

Constantly gave the ball away, gave fouls away. Looks lost out wide, lost up front.

Wilson – 7

Took his goal brilliantly and that is what he is there to do.

Doesn’t offer a whole lot otherwise but as long as he puts the ball in the back of the net, no complaints from me.

SUBS:

Shelvey – 0

Typical Shelvey. Came on, did nothing, walked about, sat on the halfway line, played a few 40 yard balls.

Tried to take out Ndombele when he picked up his yellow in what was a cowardly tackle. Fully deserved red. A lazy lazy footballer – sooner we replace him (and Bruce) the better.

Murphy – N/A (not on long enough to judge)

Fraser – N/A (not on long enough to judge)

HEAD COACH

Bruce – 0

Why hasn’t he left yet?

If I was currently the main person responsible for my boyhood club being bottom of the league then I’d leave.

Surely, if you were a so called Geordie, or a fan, you’d want your team to get better?

Bruce is more interested in his pay day.

Sooner he goes, and then we get rid of Charnley, this club can truly try to kick on.
