As Sjoerd Keizer of Voetbal International has reported, Feyenoord will still attempt to bring Manfred Ugalde to De Kuip. The Rotterdam side want to sign the striker on loan from Spartak Moscow, although it appears to be a difficult proposition.

Earlier this summer, it was announced that the Costa Rican was on Feyenoord’s shortlist. For a long time, it seemed unlikely to become anything more than an ambitious plan, but now the Rotterdammers are finally making an attempt to get him in. The idea is to loan Ugalde, while an option to buy may be in the picture, too.

The 23-year-old Ugalde swapped FC Twente for Spartak Moscow in January 2024 after they paid €13 million for his services. In Enschede, the striker made 84 appearances, scoring 22 times. In his home country, Ugalde made his breakthrough as a footballer with Deportivo Saprissa, before being brought to Europe by Belgian side Lommel SK in 2020.
