Napoli hosted Cremonese on Sunday and held on to all three points after a 3-0 win.
Scorers: Kvaratskhelia 22′, Osimhen 65′, Elmas 79′
The fairytale run continues for Napoli as the Serie A leaders moved one step closer to their first league title in 33 years.
Yet despite being first against bottom-of-the-table Cremonese, the hosts had to dismiss a few threats from the visitors yet Napoli eventually controlled.
The opener would come at the hands of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who scored his ninth Serie A goal on his birthday for 1-0.
It was an impressive strike created out of nothing, too, as the Georgian picked up the ball just before it ran out for a goal-kick, dribbled into the box and curled home.
Things remained a 1-0 game coming out into the second half but Napoli’s control of the pitch led to more threats for another goal. Hirving Lozano forced Marco Carnesecchi into a save before Kvaratskhelia fell short minutes later.
Cremonense again threatened at the other end of the pitch but neither Frank Tsadjout nor Felix Afena-Gyan could create anything worthwhile as Napoli’s defence was just as strong as its attack.
Eventually, the pressure from the league leaders cracked the visitors again when Victor Osimhen tapped home a loose ball for 2-0 after a corner and substitute Elif Elmas drove home a third.
Looking at the table, Napoli are 16 points clear at the top over second-place Inter (59 total) while bottom-of-the-table Cremonese have eight.
