Barcelona have had a mixed transfer window so far. Joan Garcia’s arrival, needless to say, is a massive positive but the Nico Williams saga and how it ended will leave the administration puzzled.
Joan Laporta and Co., thus, are now forced to look for targets that do not demand any written guarantee of registration, something difficult to come across in today’s market. After all, that is the rumoured reason why the Williams deal fell apart.
Despite the recent blow, the Catalans are still looking towards big names. While Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford have been discussed as attacking targets, Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries has emerged as a potential defensive target.
Barcelona will still be haunted by the memories of last season’s UEFA Champions League clash against Inter Milan and how a few minutes of slack play cost them a place in the final of the competition.
As relayed by Mundo Deportivo, however, the Nerazzurri are seriously worried about Barcelona potentially triggering Dumfries’ release clause and finding their next star full-back in their squad.

The right-back was one of the star players in Inter Milan’s win over Barcelona in Europe last season and has undoubtedly done enough to catch Joan Laporta’s attention.
The only question, however, is whether the club have enough financial leverage.
Dumfries currently has a release clause by which he can leave the Italian side for just €25 million. That clause, however, expires on 15th July and Inter Milan are alert and worried about a potential approach from Catalonia.
The player has recently held contact with superagent Jorge Mendes, and rumours of a potential departure have thus spread like wildfire. After all, Barcelona share a good relationship with the Portuguese.
Should the Catalans sign the 29-year-old, Flick could potentially move Jules Kounde back to centre-back and pair him with Pau Cubarsi in the long run.
To do so, however, they must not only find the finances but also beat Manchester City who are also interested.
