In the wake of allegations made by Red Star FC manager Habib Beye following a draw with AS Nancy in the third tier, the Lorraine club has launched an internal investigation and identified the supporter responsible for monkey-chants following the 1-1 draw. This is according to a report via L’Équipe.

Nancy president Nicolas Holveck has confirmed that the person had been identified, with the individual in question seen making derogatory gestures mimicking a monkey.

“We have reviewed the footage throughout the night, and we can confirm that one person is responsible. We have identified the individual, and we have a clear image of him entering the stadium,” reassured Nicolas Holveck. “He made monkey gestures. It appears to be the actions of one person, as the person sitting beside him did not exhibit this type of behavior.”

“I want to reassure Habib Beye and everyone else that we won’t let anything pass us by. We have taken into account what has been reported. We will not let this go.”

At the final whistle of the match, Red Star’s manager Habib Beye revealed that three of his players experienced racist abuse during the match. “Three of my players reported monkey cries to me, and we let things like that happen. It’s all trivialized. It’s always the same. It’s unacceptable, and I see Nancy players going to greet their supporters afterwards? I’ll always fight against these things. I hope there will be sanctions,” said Beye in an interview with Canal+.
