The 18-year-old began the campaign playing for the under-21s but made 39 senior appearances in all competitions, earning England call-ups and becoming one of the most talked-about young talents in the country.

Sam Dean reports for The Telegraph that his new contract will last for five years, taking him to 2030.

Arteta is understood to have played a direct role in securing the agreement, maintaining close communication with Lewis-Skelly’s representatives and his mother, Marcia Lewis.

After his new deal was announced, Lewis-Skelly said, “I’m so proud and happy. I know those words are simple, but I think they sum up how I feel signing for this club. I’m a fan and it’s like a dream come true.

“I’ve embodied the values of Hale End and come through. I’ve still got a lot of years ahead of me, so if I can keep staying humble and being a good person, that’s the most important thing to me.

“I know I’ve taken a lot of experience from the games about the positive moments, the mistakes that I’ve made. I’m definitely more ready now for the next season. I just want to keep learning and keep improving.

“I want a legacy. I want to win everything there is to win in the game. I want to win trophies on the biggest stages whilst being a person that’s always learning and stays grounded, which is so important.”

Lewis-Skelly made his senior debut away to Manchester City in September, and within three months, he was starting Champions League matches. He scored his first senior goal in February against City, memorably mimicking Erling Haaland’s meditation pose after the Norwegian had previously dismissed him with, “Who the f*** is that?”

A product of Arsenal’s academy since the age of eight, Lewis-Skelly rose through the youth ranks alongside Ethan Nwaneri, playing a pivotal role in the club’s FA Youth Cup run in 2022–23.

He signed his first professional contract in October 2023.
