According to Mohamed Toubache-Ter, Montepellier want to bring AS Monaco right-back Ruben Aguilar (30) back to the club this summer.
Aguilar, who has one France cap to his name, joined Monaco from Montpellier for €8m back in the summer of 2019. Since, the Frenchman has made 123 appearances for Les Monégasques, and has been a solid and reliable element in the club’s defence. However, since the arrival of Vanderson in January 2022, his game time has been reduced. He has been used as a rotational option but still started many games during the 2022/23 season.
However, according to Toubache-Ter, he could leave the club this summer. A deal has been described as “difficult” but the player is keen on a return and the club are very willing to make it happen. After being threatened by relegation for much of the season, Michel Der Zakarian righted the ship at Montpellier, steering them comfortably to safety, whilst Monaco, after a disappointing end to the season, missed out on European football for next season.
