The goalkeeper is always a different type of footballer. He wears other colours than his team-mates, can use his hands, and is generally less prone to injury.
Of course, not having to run several kilometres a match and avoiding injury allows goalkeepers to have much longer careers than their outfield counterparts.
This is clearly the case in Liga MX as three goalkeepers are among the four most established veterans in the league when taking the date of their debut into account.
Jesús Corona (February 2003), Alfredo Talavera (August 2003), and Guillermo Ochoa (February 2004) all top the list as the most, third-most, and fourth-most experienced players in Liga MX, respectively.
Chivas striker Oribe Peralta (February 2003) is the second-most experienced player and the most experienced outfielder. Corona made his debut just seven days before Peralta.
The years go by but class remains permanent.
