Eintracht Frankfurt defender Martin Hinteregger is unsure if he has a future at the club after they U-turned on their decision to sell him this summer, according to Kronen Zeitung.
In an interview with the newspaper, Hinteregger explained: “A lot has gone wrong this year. I was told in late autumn and between the quarter-finals against Barcelona that I should leave in the summer.”
The 29-year-old has played an integral part in Frankfurt’s Europa League success and is a firm fan favourite. With this in mind, it now appears that the club are unwilling to sell the defender whose contract runs out in 2024.
Hinteregger admits: “I’m surprised at the club’s U-turn that I should stay. I certainly don’t want to miss out on the Champions League with these fans.”
