According to the Mexican press, Club Pachuca have reached out to Marcelo Bielsa for the Argentine to take over the reins of the Tuzos for Liga MX’s Apertura 2018.

After parting ways with Diego Alonso, the name of Bielsa has been linked as the replacement for the upcoming season.

Negotiations between the coach and the Mexican club have been initiated, especially through Pachuca’s VP of Operations, Andrés Fassi – who has personally met with his countryman.

Fassi is also the president of Argentinian side Club Talleres de Córdoba – owned by Grupo Pachuca; he has held that position since 2014. Fassi is also in the market for a coach to take over at Talleres following Frank Kudelka’s departure. Kudelka is rumored to be in negotiations to sign with Universidad de Chile and Pachuca.

Bielsa has been linked during the last 10 years as a potential candidate to take over the Mexican national team and other Liga MX clubs, over and over again. But the last time he actually worked in Mexico, dates all the way back to the mid-90s when he coached Atlas and Club América.
