Manchester United target Sandro Tonali worth €300m claims Brescia president | OneFootball

Brescia star Sandro Tonali does not appear close to a move to Manchester United after their president claimed he’s worth €300m.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s need for midfield reinforcement is well known but it’s obvious he would never spend that much on anyone, let alone an untested 19 year old.

United let the likes of Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini to leave without investing in replacements despite fans calling for signings even before the duo left.

With rumours of Paul Pogba’s potential departure, Solskjaer could be left with a real dilemma in his engine room as early as the upcoming winter transfer window.

Tonali was an answer to the problems according to some but it seems he’s no longer a realistic option even if the Red Devils were seriously interested.

According to Football Italia, Brescia president Massimo Cellino said: “His talent is clear for all to see, but the truly special thing about Sandro is his smile. He loves to play football and the rest is of no real interest to him.

“There is always the risk with young players that sudden fame can create problems, but he is doing so well. I believe he can become even better, as I’ve never had such a good player in my squad.

“Tonali sacrifices himself so much for the team with his defensive work, but if he were to move to a more advanced role, he’d score more goals. You’ll see, he’s got a great shot.

“The other day, his agent and his parents were telling me about this €50m evaluation. I replied that for me he is worth €300m, which means I don’t want to sell.

“I have a dream. If Sandro accepts, I am ready to make a big financial sacrifice to extend his contract. It’s up to him to decide. He can stay here and enjoy his football, or go to a big club and risk being left on the bench.

“All the big Italian clubs. Abroad there’s Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, but in my view, he’d be better off remaining as a protagonist with Brescia.”

It’s easy to understand the argument Cellino is making and it does make sense to want regular first-team football at Tonali’s age to help with his development.

However, it’s also easy to argue that the young Italian would walk right into the Manchester United midfield, particularly if Pogba does leave.

He also would have a manager who favours younger players in Solskjaer so it’s not a huge gamble on Tonali’s part in terms of making the transfer happen.
