Manchester City will dip into their bottomless barrel of wealth once again this summer, with Pep Guardiola keen to reinforce his already star-studded squad.

Man City inch closer to clinching a famous treble with every passing matchday, and the Cityzens could claim the first trophy if they are victorious over Chelsea on Sunday.

Success over the struggling Blues would see them clinch the Premier League title for the third year running, highlighting just how overpowered and well-oiled Guardiola’s relentless Sky Blue machines are.

Man City could just as easily mount another title challenge with the same squad, but they could be forced to make a foray into the transfer market to bolster Guardiola’s options ahead of next season.

Joao Cancelo’s departure left the Cityzens light on full-back options, so they will look to plug that gap this summer while a new midfielder is also in the works with Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva facing uncertain futures.

Let’s look at some of Man City’s transfer targets ahead of the summer market, as well as some possible departures with several players poised to exit the Etihad Stadium.

Transfer targets

Man City have been linked with several players, but their priority remains to lure Borussia Dortmund’s young sensation Jude Bellingham to the Etihad this summer.

The Cityzens are seemingly fighting a losing battle, with several reports claiming transfer rivals Real Madrid have all but wrapped up a deal for the dazzling Englishman.

However, City are undeterred and are willing to go head to head with the Spanish heavyweights for Bellingham, who would represent a massive coup for the Premier League champions-elect.

Alphonso Davies has been identified as the man to plug the left-back gap, with Cancelo’s long-term future at the Etihad in serious doubt.

However, they will also face strong competition from Madrid, who are looking to reinforce the left-back position with the injury-prone Ferland Mendy struggling to make his mark.

Man City had hoped to use Cancelo in a potential player plus cash deal to entice Bayern into making a deal, but the Germans have no plans to keep the Portuguese defender or sell Davies.

They have already opened talks with Davies’ representatives over a new contract as the club considers the Canada international a vital part of their future.

While they are not guaranteed to succeed in their plot to sign Davies, Man City could have a better chance of snapping up his teammate Joshua Kimmich who is reportedly unsettled at the Allianz Arena.

The Cityzens have been linked with a move for the versatile midfielder, who could be a replacement for Gundogan, but they are rivalled by Spanish champions Barcelona who are also keen on the German.

Possible departures

Cancelo tops the list of high-profile Man City players poised for a summer departure after falling out of favour with Guardiola before completing a loan move to Bayern.

The Portuguese defender is not short on interest, with Arsenal and Barcelona weighing up a move, although the Gunners are more likely to match Man City’s lofty asking price for the 28-year-old.

Gundogan’s contract at the Etihad runs out in the summer, but the midfielder is still at odds with the club over the terms of a new deal and could leave as a free agent at the end of the season.

Arsenal have joined the race for his services, but Barca have been touted as the German’s next destination.

However, the Blaugranas could struggle to match his salary demands leaving the Gunners in pole position to sign the 32-year-old.

Bernardo Silva has been vocal about a desire to explore his options this summer and could also leave Man City with Paris Saint-Germain already preparing a mega-bid to snap him up.

Kalvin Phillips is another who could depart the Etihad this summer, having found playing time hard to come by with West Ham United monitoring his situation.
