Premier League champions Manchester City have rebuffed a trio of potential options for Julian Alvarez this summer, with enquiries made to Etihad Stadium officials.

The latest information concerning the Argentina international comes after the player himself confirmed earlier this week that he will take time to think about his club future and weigh up his options after the conclusion of the Olympic Games in Paris.

Speaking whilst representing his nation in the French capital this week, Alvarez explained, “There is a lot of talk. At Manchester City I feel very good, I played a lot of minutes. But we will see after the Games. First, if I can, I will take a few days off. Then we will decide.”

Unsurprisingly given the quality of the player in question, interest in Julian Alvarez’s services has been rife throughout the summer, and the latest report points towards a trio of interested parties and the reception they got from within the Etihad Stadium.

According to the information of journalist Graeme Bailey, Manchester City have ‘rebuffed’ recent enquiries about Julian Alvarez from the likes of Premier League rivals Chelsea, as well as Atletico Madrid and representatives from the Saudi Pro League.

It is explained that Chelsea have been monitoring the Argentina international’s situation as they remain on the lookout for a new forward ahead of the new season, whilst the player’s representatives have been speaking to other clubs about possible deals.

Should any club wish to solidify their interest in Manchester City’s striker through the form of a concrete offer however, then the Premier League champions have already outlined their asking price to clubs wanting to test their resolve.

As widely reported, Etihad Stadium bosses could target a fee north of €70 million, with a further €20 million in add-ons, whilst there also remains the possibility given the player’s potential within the game that the club would retain clauses in any agreement.

Manchester City have showcased in the past that they prefer holding some involvement in young talents’ futures, including the likes of Romeo Lavia and Douglas Luiz, retaining sell-on clauses, buy-back agreements, and even first refusals.
