Manchester City have discovered their opponents for the FIFA Club World Cup in December following the completed draw on Tuesday.

Pep Guardiola’s side will look to claim the trophy for the first time in the club’s history having qualified for the competition through their maiden UEFA Champions League triumph last season.

Manchester City overcame the challenge of Inter in Istanbul, Turkey last June thanks to a single second-half strike from Rodri to cap off a sensational season that also saw Pep Guardiola and his players claim another Premier League title and the FA Cup.

The FIFA Club World Cup will take place between December 12th and December 20th, with Manchester City entering the tournament at the semi-final stages. The full fixture breakdown for the tournament hosted in Saudi Arabia is as follows:

Match One (First Round): Al Ittihad FC v Auckland City FC – 12/12/2023

Match Two (Second Round): Team A v Team B – 15/12/2023

Match Three (Second Round): Team C v Team D – 15/12/2023

Match Four (Semi-Final): CONMEBOL representative v M2 or M3 winner – 18/12/2023

Match Five (Semi-Final): M2 or M3 winner v Manchester City – 19/12/2023

Match Six (Third Place Play-Off): TBC vs TBC – 22/12/2023

Match Seven (Final): TBC vs TBC – 22/12/2023

Following the draw for the FIFA Club World Cup – which took place in Jeddah this week – Manchester City have now found out their route to a possible final and who they will face in the competition upon entry at the semi-final stage.

Match Two: Al Ahly vs Al Ittihad or Auckland City

Match Three: Club Leon vs Urawa Reds

Semi-Final One, Match Four: Al Ittihad or Auckland City or Al Ahly vs Copa Libertadores winners

Semi-Final Two, Match Five: Urawa Reds or Club Leon vs Manchester City

Match Six and Match Seven will be a third place play-off and the final respectively.

FIFA have revealed that the 2023 tournament will be played at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium and Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium, holding approximately 62,000 and 27,000 spectators, respectively.

With regards to Manchester City’s Premier League commitments at the time of the FIFA-hosted tournament, it has already been confirmed by the English top-flight that their fixture against Brentford has been postponed, with a new date to be announced in due course.
